Moisture in Basements

The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) conducted a survey of 405 finished basements in Ottawa "to determine whether basements were contributing to poor indoor air quality as a result of of mold in the finishing materials". Over 50% of houses "had signs of moisture in the basement". Samples were taken from 22 of these and over 80% contained mold "harmful to humans".
